March 24 - Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh?! This is a wonderful post since I love Disney!!

****

Word of the Day:
Picture - a visual representation created on a surface. From the Latin "pictura" (to paint).

Did you know today?!
Today in 1974: Ernest Shepard, illustrator of the original Winnie the Pooh and Wind in the Willows books died. Shepard's childhood nickname was "giddy kipper." Shephard based his drawings of Winnie the Pooh on his son's bear, Growler. Winnie-the-Pooh was named after a bear cub that (the real) Christopher Robin saw at the London Zoo. The cub had been found in Winnipeg, Canada.

ACTIVITY:
Write a story based on the toys you had as a small child. Did you have a favorite bear? A doll? An action figure? A special blanket?

or

In the comment section, just tell me about it. What was the toy and why was it your favorite.
Also, take a picture and email it to me. I would love to see how it looks! (tknavel@mycrcs.org)
